I grew up in Harpswell, Maine, five miles from Brunswick and the Maine State Music Theatre at Bowdoin College. During the summers of my teens, I ushered there. That meant I could see shows for free.
It was a great deal for a poor teenager. I wish the Maine State Music Theatre had a show like Legally Blonde there when I was a teen. Dogs plus theater equals tons of fun. It’s not just the fact that dogs are in this production that’s noteworthy.
It’s the fact that two rescue dogs star in Legally Blonde as “Bruiser.” MSMT’s “Bruiser” was scheduled to be euthanized when he was discovered. Now, he stars on Broadway as the original Bruiser. Not to mention that he starred in the National Tour and other productions.
This is the final week of the musical based on the popular movie. The show closes its curtain on July 14. Find out what the Times Record said about the show here. For tickets and more information, visit MSMT’s website here.
